USN - SB2C Helldiver Summary

The SB2 Helldiver was meant to replace the SBD Dauntless. It became available in late 1943, about the time the dedicated dive bombers fell out of favor with the USAAF. It was the primary dive bomber of the USN until the end of the war. Add it to your game for enhanced realism.

This game piece enables an equipment upgrade path for your standard game. We implement the upgrade path by starting the war using only the SBD Dauntless and then after a certain agreed-upon criteria is met (like number of turns, key events, or previous build counts) the Helldiver can be available for purchase. When using upgrades, we typically downgrade the capabilities and/or price of the initial game piece so there is a difference with the newer equipment. In this case, we would degrade the Dauntless capabilities and the Helldiver would retain the usual tactical bomber capabilities and costs. Upgrades add an extra dimension to the game.
