Implacable Class Carrier Summary

This is a 3D printed sculpt of the Implacable Class Carrier by EBard Models

An alternative to out of the box Axis and Allies pieces, 3D print opens a new world of customized pieces, where basically any historical ship can be obtained.

We at A&A Boardgaming endorse these new pieces and will be offering a host of new ships over time, all custom painted and magnetized.

The HMS Implacable was the lead ship of the Implacable class aircraft carrier built for the Royal Navy. Derived from the design of the Illustrious class, they were faster and carried more aircraft (81) than the older ships but sacrificed some armor protection to accomodate the larger aircraft inventory.

Implacable was laid down in early 1939, and her construction was temporarily suspended in 1940–41, in favour of higher-priority ships needed to fight in the Battle of the Atlantic. She was launched on 10 December 1942.

Indefatigable was the first ship to go to the Pacific and attacked Japanese-controlled oil refineries in Sumatra. She participated in Operation Iceberg, the invasion of Okinawa in March–April 1945. Implacable's arrival in the Pacific was delayed by a refit and she did not begin operations against the Japanese until June. The sister ships participated in the attacks on the Japanese Home Islands in July and August.

Members of the Implacable class:

Each carrier comes with a unique, historically accurate flight deck decal and two strong neodymium rare earth magnets to hold two aircraft. Optionally load your carrier with matching magnetized aircraft. Never have your airwing fall off a carrier again!

Default magnetic polarity is as shown.

The optional assembled damage marker by Combat Miniatures makes a great game addition.

Note:  We use color to differentiate land based and carrier based planes of the same sculpt. We designate the early war paint scheme to the land-based Spitfire & Mosquito, and the late war paint scheme with no invasion stripes for the naval variants.

Approximate dimensions (LWH): 62.5 mm x 10.5 mm x 10.5 mm

Note: The plastic used in the manufacturing process is not as robust as A&A game pieces. The plastic is more brittle and delicate protrusions like masts and scout plane catapults can be broken off. Please use care when handling.
